要旨本文 | Discrepancies in global deforestation figures often arise from varying definitions of forests and land use frameworks. Recent advancements in remote sensing, such as those offered by Global Forest Watch, enable swift global forest cover evaluation. However, these technologies struggle to distinguish natural forests from managed plantations. Our study addresses this by combining high-resolution forest classification with deforestation data, providing a detailed overview of recent deforestation trends. Our findings indicate a global decline in natural forests, with diverse patterns across the world's 15 biomes, 831 ecoregions, and protected areas. This analysis is crucial for developing strategies for sustainable forest management and conservation, highlighting the importance of distinguishing between natural forests and plantations in deforestation assessments. |
