Wood species identification of Rubber and Acacia tree based on wood anatomy and DNA analysis

Republic of Korea is operating Legal Timber Trade Promote System to solve the global problem of illegal logging and unknown species information. Rubber and Acacia in Vietnam are priority imported broadleaves timber species. The purpose of this study is to establish information targeting Rubber and Acacia timber species identification based on wood anatomy and DNA analysis. In the cross-section, intercellular canals, isolated pores, and wood diffuse porous exist. In the radial section, bordered pits, procumbent ray cells, upright ray cells, and crystals inside longitudinal tracheid exist. The tangential section consists of an uniseriate ray and a multiseriate ray, and inter vessel pits were observed. We developed DNA markers to clearly identify species. We found identification information of Hevea brasiliensis and Acacia mangium in rbcL and trnK. We also verified two species identification by using DNA analysis. |
