要旨本文 | Forest change detection in the Solomon Islands is crucial for sustainable forest management, conservation, and climate change mitigation. This study focuses on utilizing remote sensing and Geographic Information System (GIS) applications on change detection study on ridge-to-reef landscape using multi-temporal satellite data. Accurate and timely detection of forest disturbances can provide valuable information. Combining dense time series imageries from optical satellites is vital for detecting rapid forest changes. However, the Solomon Islands’ region faces several challenges due to its unique geographical characteristics and limited resources. This study will; (i) outline these challenges, (ii) identify the multi-temporal Landsat 8 and Sentinel-2 imageries between 2015 and 2022 and their significant attributes, and (iii) use multi-temporal imageries and GIS applications to detected forest changes of two selected sites in this region. |
